Electrode manufacturing processes

Mixing
Vacuum systems are required at several points within the mixing area. At material intake stations, fixed dedusting devices are required when bags are opened and contents transferred to the mixer. During mixing, additional vacuum systems are needed to extract excess dust extruded during the blending process, while simultaneously protecting the integrity of your product.

Coating & drying
Within coating and drying, suction devices can be used at several locations, such as after unwinding, before coating or after drying.
Fixed suction units are required both during the unwinding and rewinding process and in the drying process. In the coating stage, anode & cathode foil must be cleaned before applying slurry.

Calendering
During this phase, which involves rolling electrode sheets through a calender to compress the active material layer, reduce porosity, and enhance performance, many particles are released, which must be continuously removed within the machines.

Slitting
During slitting, in addition to the large quantity of particles produced, the leftovers of the collector foils must also be removed and collected.

Notching/separation
During this process, large quantities of particles, scrap and, in the case of laser cutting, fumes are produced as a byproduct of the process and must be collected and safely removed.

Vacuums for the electrode manufacturing stage
Within electrode production, powders, slurries and metal foils are processed, resulting in the formation of particles which must be removed to avoid contamination.

Stacking/winding
During stacking of pouch batteries or winding of cylindrical batteries, many particles can be generated due to the complex handling operations. These particles and dust must be continuously removed to prevent product contamination.

Tab welding
In the tab welding process, particles are produced during ultrasonic and laser welding, which must be absorbed by a stationary vacuum device.

Packaging
During packaging, stationary vacuum solutions are required to absorb particles and fumes generated during insertion and cell closing operations, whether its pouch, cylindrical or prismatic.

Vacuums for the cell assembly stage
In cell assembly, handling of different materials and welding processes create many particles and impurities, which vacuums can remove. Vacuum systems needed include ATEX/ACD mobile vacs, compact stationary vacuums and packaging/trim collectors.
