Britannia Hotel Group has hotels in every major city in the UK, from London to Liverpool, Birmingham to Brighton, and Eastbourne to Edinburgh. With over 10,000 bedrooms in its 53 hotels, plus bars, restaurants, nightclubs and health facilities, keeping them all spotless is a complex and critical part of the business. After a thorough evaluation, Nilfisk was selected as sole supplier across the property portfolio, providing a complete one stop shop for vacuums, floor cleaning machines and steam cleaners. Keeping a complex hospitality business running smoothly is no mean feat: Nilfisk is proud to partner with Britannia and help facilitate faster, more cost-effective cleaning every day.

When the group started to expand, investing significantly in its restaurants, bars, nightclubs and fitness clubs, the need to keep cleanliness standards high and meet customers’ high expectations prompted them to review their cleaning supplier. The new machines needed to satisfy a few different criteria, including total cost of ownership, ease of use, productivity levels and noise ratings.
High quality and cost effective
Georgina Hughes, Group Buyer for the Britannia Hotel Group, was pleased with the results. “The service we received from Nilfisk, both pre and post contract award, has been excellent. They took time to understand our needs and all cleaning machines trialed were high quality, cost effective and performed very well compared to our existing fleet,” she said.

The VP300 HEPA tub vacuum was selected for its staple vacuum cleaner across all sites. A key decision-making factor was the inclusion of a top rated H13 HEPA exhaust filter as standard ensuring that expelled air contains a low level of allergens. More crowded high traffic areas are catered for with the Nilfisk upright VU500vacuums, and hard floor areas, often near receptions that require high speed polishing, are handled by the Nilfisk FM400. The 35-liter VL500wet and dry vacuum solves the problem of spillages in busy hotel kitchens, promptly and safely removing slip hazards.
