Nilfisk maintains CDP ‘A-’ score for its action on climate change

Nilfisk receives an ‘A-’ score by CDP reflecting that the company continues to implement best practices in its climate actions.

Nilfisk has been awarded an ‘A-’ score for its climate actions by CDP, a recognized international nonprofit organization that administrates a global carbon disclosure system for investors and companies, among others.

The Nilfisk ranking remains above industry group average and places the company in top 19% of all companies within the peer group.

The ‘A-’ score, which was announced by CDP late 2021, is the second highest score possible and is a confirmation of Nilfisk’s ranking the year before. The continuity is a sign that the company keeps implementing best practices to reduce its carbon footprint in the entire value chain, while requirements for obtaining high CDP scores are being gradually lifted.

Camilla Ramby, CMO and Chair of Nilfisk’s CSR Board, commented:

“I am pleased that our climate actions are recognized and continue to be rated as best practice by CDP.”

“Over the past years, we have taken huge steps to strengthen our efforts on mapping, tracking, and reducing our greenhouse-gas emissions. 2020 was a milestone for us as we committed to the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) to develop and submit an emission reduction target aligned with the SBTi criteria. Moreover, while waiting for SBTi validation of our target, we publicly committed to pursue a 35% reduction in absolute CO2 emissions from our own or controlled sources by 2030,” Camilla Ramby said.

Nilfisk started reporting its greenhouse-gas emissions to CDP in 2018, and in just three years the company went from the lowest ranking, F, to an ‘A-’ in 2020, which was sustained in 2021. This has been achieved by rigorous execution of our CSR strategy, including:

  • Mapping and target-setting of Scope 1 and 2 emissions
  • Initiating several pilot projects to spearhead local initiatives to drive carbon emission reduction, including implementing a new car policy
  • Committing to the Science Based Target initiative with an ambitious plan to reduce carbon emissions by 2030
  • Implementing concrete savings such as changing lightning and heating systems where relevant
  • Establishing an internal CSR board, and ensuring that CSR is anchored in the management team

Nilfisk has been a signatory member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) since 2010 and works strategically with more UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
