Beaches Logistics Excels with Nilfisk

Obstacles at every turn

In addition to distribution, the site also offered customer storage, making cleaning a frequent requirement. With many trees surrounding the facility, the removal of leaves before they became an indoor slip risk was key.

The interior of the facility had an issue with shrink wrap, pallet blocks, splinters, and loose pallet straps, as well. Forklifts often drove straight over discarded materials, resulting in impellor damage that led to repair costs and critical downtime. Dust, debris, and leaves posed risks to products, transport equipment, and the bottom line.

Solutions would have to withstand rigorous daily use, diesel powered cleaning equipment was out of the question, and cleaning would need to be performed both indoors and outside. The chosen solution had to be durable, quality equipment, so Nilfisk proposed the LPG-powered SW5500 Ride-on Sweeper, resulting in a quantum leap for Beaches Logistics.

Leasing for the long run

According to Mr. Jones, “It was immediately clear that the machine was very efficient and so easy to drive, the staff were fighting over the opportunity to put it through its paces! Indoors or outdoors, it did the job with ease, providing daily cleaning within the facility and external sweeping once or twice a week.”

Mr. Jones chose to lease the SW5500 over a 3-year period, including a Nilfisk Premium service contract, amounting to a single, fixed monthly price in line with his budget. The result was a solution that delivered from one day to the next, and will continue to do so.

"In our previous facility we were literally using a man and a broom to try to keep on top of the issue. This was ridiculously inefficient and left someone drawing the short straw. This process has really revolutionised our cleaning operations and will ensure the facility stays pristine. We were cleaning the last facility with a broom – It was immediately clear that this machine was highly efficient, and so easy to drive that the staff were arguing over who would use it first.”
