Centennial Year!

Nilfisk-Advance, the world’s leading producer of professional cleaning equipment, is gearing up to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the company’s founding. Founded in February 1906 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the company today has sales companies in 31 countries, distributors in a further 62 global markets and manufacturing facilities in Denmark, Italy, China, Sweden, Hungary, Germany and the USA.

A notable feature of the company’s history was the invention and patenting in 1910 of an electrical canister vacuum cleaner able to be operated by a single person. This represented a huge breakthrough in domestic cleaning. As part of the upcoming centennial celebrations, the company is planning a global competition, starting this February, to find the oldest working Nilfisk vacuum cleaner. The winner will be announced in the spring of 2006.
